Economic Growth Opportunities
Objective: Identify engine and enabling industries for Central Highlands and the factors that drive economic growth in those industries, informed by stakeholder insight and economic Analysis.
Key activities:
Literature review of existing economic baselining work on Central Highlands, and undertake economic analysis including and location quotient, shift-share and gap analysis.
Identify and engage core stakeholders, spanning local businesses, industry associations, government entities, educational institutions, and community leaders. Document insights, needs, and expectations from initial consultations, using thematic analysis to identify recurring themes of economic growth to develop draft objectives for Frontier CQ
Analyse foundational documents, the Draft Queensland AgTech Roadmap, Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, and Central Highlands Economic Master Plan, ensuring strategic alignment and collaboration.
Key Outputs:
Identification of Central Highlands engine industries mining and agriculture and enabling industries, transport and logistics, manufacturing, and education and training.
Draft factors driving economic growth in Central Highlands to be tested in the next phase of work to identify key barriers and enablers to economic growth through stakeholder insights.
